Three Bobcats Named to United Soccer Coaches Division II All-Southeast Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The honors continue to pile up for Lees-McRae College men's soccer players Pol Vassart, Agustin Ortiz and Harvey McMorrow, as the trio was named to the Division II All-Southeast Region teams announced on Tuesday (Nov. 27) by United Soccer Coaches.

Vassart was selected to the second team, while Ortiz and McMorrow were named to the third team. LMC's three selections were the second-most in the conference, behind four players from Limestone.

This is Vassart's second career all-region selection after being named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region first team several weeks ago. Vassart led the conference in goals this season with 15 and points with 39, while being tied for second in the league in assists with nine. In conference play, Vassart totaled seven goals and five assists for 19 points, which was the highest total of any individual within Conference Carolinas. Vassart paced the conference in most offensive categories for most of the season. Vassart finished his career at LMC in fourth on the career goals list (38), fifth on the all-time list in match-winning goals (11) and tied for fifth in single-season match-winning goals (five). He was named the 2018 Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year, and also selected to the All-Conference Carolinas First Team. In total, he is a four-time all-conference selection, as well as being selected to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College division All-State First Team each of the last two seasons. He is also a two-time selection to the Conference Carolinas All-Academic Team, a two-time selection to CoSIDA's Academic All-District Team and a three-time Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll selection. The Tournon sur-Rhone, France native is the son of Valerie and Yan Vassart, and is a business administration major.

Ortiz finished the season second on the team and tied for seventh in the conference with seven goals, and also tied for third on the team and tied for sixth in the conference in assists with five. The sophomore also finished second on the team and tied for sixth in the league in points with 19. This is Ortiz's second career all-region selection after being named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region second team several weeks ago. Ortiz also has been named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll once in his career. The Mendoza, Argentina native is the son of Jorge Ortiz and Liliana Serrano, and is a business administration major.

This is McMorrow's second career all-region selection, after being named to last year's D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team. He has also been selected to the NCCSIA College division All-State First Team twice, and also been named all-conference twice in his career. McMorrow finished the season fourth on the team in goals with four, while being tied for the team lead and second in the league in assists with nine. His 17 points were the third-highest total on the team and ninth in the league. Academically, he has made the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll two consecutive years. The Maidstone, England native is the son of Hayley Honey, and is a business administration major.
