LMC Swimming starts its first ever season Saturday in Bristol

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College swimming teams will compete in their first-ever meets Saturday in Bristol, Virginia.  The Bobcats will compete against fellow Conference Carolinas foe King University and Milligan College in a tri-meet. The events are scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m. from Virginia High School.

About the men's team – The first-ever men's swimming team currently consists of six swimmers with three being juniors and three freshmen. LMC has a trio of swimmers from North Carolina and they are joined by student-athletes from Iran, Florida and Tennessee.

Last week the Bobcats were selected to finish fifth in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll. John David McCray, Arsham Mirzaei and Javier Sanchez were all picked as swimmers to watch for the Bobcats in 2018-19.

About the women's team – The women's team, meanwhile, has eight swimmers on its current roster. Six of the eight swimmers are freshman with one sophomore and one junior as well. The squad has swimmers from Alabama, Indiana, South Carolina, North Carolina and Texas on its roster.

Last Thursday the Bobcats were picked to finish sixth in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches' Poll. The duo of Kayla Fleming and Jennifer Paul were tabbed as swimmers to watch for LMC in its inaugural season.
