MEADOWVIEW, Va. – The Lees-McRae College swimming programs picked up a split at Emory & Henry Saturday in their first meet of 2019. The women's team fell to the Wasps 81-43, but he men's squad picked up its second win of its inaugural season defeating Emory & Henry 100-61.

Coach's Take – "Both teams have been working very hard since their return from break," remarked LMC Head Coach Sean Wedell. "It was good to compete again since it was November for our last meet. It was also good to get our second win on the men's side and be very close on the women's. Both Reece Bradford and Kayla Fleming had great swims. I really look for everyone to continue to improve over the next few weekends before the Conference Carolina Championships at the beginning of February."

Standout Swims – Lees-McRae had a strong day throughout the meet. The Bobcats won all four relay races on the day to go along with nine individual event victories. Javier Sanchez and Bradford both secured two event wins on the day, while John David McCray, Arsham Mirzaei and Bailey Lupo also notched victories. Fleming picked up the lone individual event win on the day for the women's team in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:20.33.

Next Up – The Bobcats will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky. Lees-McRae will compete on both Friday and Saturday against several institutions. The action Friday begins at 3 p.m.
