BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College swimming programs will be back in action Saturday when they compete in Elizabethton, Tennessee. The Bobcats will take on Mars Hill, King and host school Milligan at the meet. The action is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Last time out – The Bobcats had a successful trip to Williamsburg, Kentucky last weekend. Overall, Lees-McRae picked up a total of six team victories over January 18-19. Since the calendar has turned to 2018, the men's team is 4-2, while the women's squad sports a record of 3-3.
Racking up the victories – The team success that the Bobcats have had in 2018 can be traced to the individual performances of their swimmers. Five different swimmers from Lees-McRae picked up individual event victories last weekend. Javier Sanchez won four events, while Arsham Mirzaei and John David McCray notched three wins as well. On the women's team, Jennifer Paul posted two wins and Kayla Fleming also came out on top in an event too.
Final meet before conference championships – Lees-McRae is heading into the home stretch of its inaugural season. This weekend's meet in Elizabethton is the final one for the Bobcats before they head to Charlotte to compete in the Conference Carolinas Championships for the first time. The conference meet is scheduled for February 6-9 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
