Swimming set to compete in first-ever Conference Carolinas Championship meet this week

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College swimming teams will compete in their first-ever Conference Carolinas Championship meet this week. The meet, which will run from Wednesday through Saturday, will be held at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Events begin Wednesday at 5 p.m. and then 10 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Last time out – The Bobcats picked up two team victories back on January 26. Lees-McRae defeated Warren Wilson twice. The men's team came out with a 97-28 victory, while the women's team upended Owls by a 58-52 final tally. In addition to those results, the Bobcats also dropped decisions to Mars Hill (Men's – 125-42, Women's – 125-40). Furthermore, Lees-McRae split against host school Milligan. The men's team knocked off the Buffaloes 83-59 but Milligan won the women's contest, 117-43.

About the meet – The meet will be hosted by not only Conference Carolinas but also the Bluegrass Mountain Conference. There will be a total of seven women's teams competing, including league champion, Barton. On the men's side, this will be the first-ever conference championship held between the Bobcats, Barton, Chowan, Emmanuel and King.
