On Sunday, Nathan Spunda continued the Lees McRae tradition of dominance by becoming the fourth Lees-McRae player in Six years to win the Fall CVAC Championships.
Coach Paul Goode commented by saying, "Nathan showed a tremendous amount of heart and determination this weekend, I was impressed with his ability to fight through fatigue. He was hurting physically in the final, but he showed he was willing to do what it takes to win. If he continues to work hard on his fitness and other aspects of his game, he could become a contender for this spring's NCAA Singles Title". The last Lees-McRae player to win the CVAC Fall Championships was Jacco Kruger in 2003.
Ricardo Vlazquez, Tom Sutton, and Brett Donar also competed in the tournament. "We all competed well throughout the weekend. Both Ricardo and Tom won tough singles matches. I have been impressed with Brett's tremendous improvement over the past three weeks. We are a young team with tremendous potential and I expect us to improve even more as we gain experience".
