The Lees-McRae College men's tennis teams battled a pair of Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference rivals over the weekend dropping both games, first to Erskine College, and then Pfeiffer University.
The Bobcats were swept in the doubles matches with Rick Velezquez and Tom Sutton dropping an 8-2 game and Braden Johns and Alex Lord-Andrade losing 8-3.
In singles play, Lord-Andrade lost in three, 2-6, 6-2, 5-10. Sutton also pushed to a tie breaker after dropping the first set 4-6, rebounding to win 7-6, only to fall 9-11 in the tie breaker. Velezquez fell 4-6, 2-6 and Johns fell 1-6, 0-6.
Against Pfeiffer, the Bobcats looked to rebound and started the day off well with Sutton and Velezquez winning 8-4 in doubles play. Lord-Andrade and Johns dropped their doubles match 3-8 before both teams started singles play.
Lord-Andrade rebounded from the doubles loss with some stellar play winning 6-1, 6-3 while Sutton also picked up a win 6-2, 6-4. Velezquez, Johns, and Bradley Rose all lost in the singles matches to the visiting Falcons.
