Bobcats Ranked 39th in National Tennis Poll

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's tennis teams is ranked 39th in the nation going into the 2009 spring tennis season.


The Bobcats are led by sophomore Nandor Solymosi (Drebecen, Hungary), who is individually ranked 34th in the nation. Nandor was named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year for the 2007-08 season. He finished the season with a 7-2 conference record.

During the 2009 season, the Bobcats will play nine top ranked teams: 12th ranked Lander, 15th ranked Anderson, 21st ranked Augusta State, 23rd ranked USC-Aiken, 31st ranked Limestone, 32nd ranked Mount Olive, 36th ranked Queens University Charlotte, 37th ranked Tusculum and 40th ranked Mars Hill.

"It is great to be recognized by the committee, and it shows how far the team has come in the last couple of years," head coach Paul Goode said. "But, we realize our success will be measured by performance in the spring."

The Bobcats will open the season February 1st at 23rd ranked USC-Aiken.
