Bobcats Pull Third Upset of the Season with 5-4 Win Over Trojans

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The No. 39th ranked Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's tennis team pulled their third upset of a ranked team this season with a 5-4 win over the No. 22 ranked Mount Olive College Trojans Saturday afternoon at the Walker Tennis Center in Conference Carolinas action.

Despite the almost two week layoff, the Bobcats rallied from a 2-1 doubles deficit and won four of the six singles matches to secure the upset.

Two-time Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, Nandor Solymosi, pushed is his singles match win streak to nine with a 6-0, 7-6 win at his number one position over Daniel Mosteanu.

Shaun Sumner was the only Bobcat to win both his singles and doubles match. At his number three singles position, Sumner defeated Frederico Barros 6-3, 6-2, and at number two doubles he teamed up with Travis VanHoy to secure the only point for the Bobcats at doubles with a 9-8 win.

The Bobcats host J.C. Smith March 23rd for their next match.
