BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The tandem of Carlos Pinel and Hang Lak Choi swiped a win in No. 2 doubles, but LMC was unable to build off it in an 8-1 loss to Barton Saturday afternoon on the LMC Tennis Courts in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Bulldogs (11-5, 3-4 CC) earned their sixth win in their last eight matches. The Bobcats (3-10, 0-6) fell in three sets via tiebreaker.
Pinel (Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil) and Lak Choi (Newton, N.C.) handed Max Leppert and Jorge Pradilla a 9-8 loss in a thrilling bout at No. 2 doubles.
Joao Araujo (Curitiba, Puerto Rico) gave Rafael Ruiz fits at No. 2 singles, but fell short in a 6-4, 7-6 decision.
Pinel dropped the opening set, 6-2, before claiming the second, 7-5. The sophomore ended up on the losing end of a tiebreaker, 10-6 at No. 3 singles.
Lak Choi bounced back from an opening set loss to win the second, 6-2. The Bulldogs' Nick Genest eked out a 10-7 win in the tiebreaker.
LMC welcomes Belmont Abbey April 10 at 3:30 p.m. for a CC match in Banner Elk, N.C.
