Cullowhee, NC--The Lees-McRae College men's track and field team took to the track for the third time in eight days, this time at Western Carolina University. The Bobcats competed on a rain-soaked track and overcast conditions, yet produced some good performances for the event. Leading the way again was Alan Bachman (Nanjemoy, MD) in the sprints. Bachman won the 400m dash and finished tenth in the 200m.
Sophomore Jonathan Arthur (Pine Level, NC) finished second in the pole vault with a jump of 4.60m (15ft-1in) and fifth place in the triple jump. Fellow Sophomore Brad Tanis (Midland Park, NJ) finished third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.54 seconds.
Senior Josh Blanc (Hope Mills, NC) finished third overall in the 3,000m steeplechase and just narrowly missed breaking the 10-minute barrier in that event. Freshman Ryan Oakes (White Oak, NC) finished fourth in the pole vault.
The Bobcats will take a limited number of athletes to compete at Duke University this weekend.
