Bobcats Compete at Appalachian Indoor Open Track Meet
BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's track and field team competed in the Appalachian Indoor Open Track Meet over the weekend for their second meet of the indoor season and first meet since coming back from Christmas Break.
Joe Daher (Mt. Dore, Fla.) set an indoor school record with a
12.23 meter toss, 40'01.5" in the weight throw.
Other notable finishes on the men's side for the Bobcats: Jon Aurthur (pine Level, N.C.) finished fourth pole vault with a height of 14'07.25", Brad Tanis, (Midland Park, N.J.) Steve Mostella (Winter Haven, Fla.), Alonzo Clark (Fredricksburg, Va.) and Adam Phillips (Spruce Pine, N.C.) finished seventh in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:39.00, Michael Davis (Independence, Va.) and Craig Simpkins (Boinling Springs, S.C.) finished ninth and tenth with times of 4:41.65 and 4:42.22 respectively in the mile run.
"We had some great performances and some not so good performances," head coach Ley Fletcher said. "As a team I was very proud of our effort after the Christmas Break. We will shake off the rust and train very hard the next two weeks and run better at the ETSU Invitational."
The team's next meet is January 30th at the East Tennessee State University Invite.
