Arthur (Pine Level, N.C.), a junior, is now ranked eighth in the
nation with six weeks to go in the indoor season and only the top
12 are invited to nationals.
He finished first in flight and was second overall at the UNC Classic over the weekend.
Sophomore Ryan Oakes (Maysville, N.C.) is currently 13th in the nation with a mark of 4.75m.
"I am very proud of Jon's performance," head coach Ley Fletcher said. "I am also very pleased with the great work that Jason Davis our assistant track and field coach has done with our pole vaulters."
Arthur and Oakes will lead the Bobcats and look to improve on their heights as the team travels to East Tennessee State January 31st for their next indoor meet.
