BLACKSBURG, VA. - Pole vaulter Jonathan Arthur shined at Virginia Tech Elite with a new personal best height of 16'0, which was good enough for ninth place against all Division I competition - ACC and SEC.
The height also is another national qualifying mark for Arthur as he continues to improve for the Indoor Track and Field National Championship Meet.
He clear the heights of 14'6 and 15-0 in his first attempt on each height before getting over 15'6 in his second attempt. He then cleared 16'0 on his first attempt, but couldn't get over 16'6 in his three attempts at that height
The senior, who was the only Division II athlete invited to the meet, beat out-vaulted three Division I program's top vaulters from Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Clemson.
