CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Senior pole vaulter Jonathan Arthur, from Pine Level, N.C., vaulted a height of 4.83 meters to finish eighth at the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet and earn All-American status Saturday. The meet was hosted at Johnson C. Smith's Irwin Belk Complex.
Arthur, who competed in last season's championship meet, becomes only the second Lees-McRae College track athlete to earn All-American honors. In 2005, Brian Knapp ran a 1:49 in the 800m, which was good enough for third place and All-American status.
Arthur, who was named 2010 Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year, vaulted 4.96m at the Alonzo Clark Memorial Meet to qualify for this year's national meet.
