LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Lees-McRae College men's track and field team posted several outstanding performances at this weekend's Liberty Open, hosted by Liberty University.
Lees-McRae, ranked first in the initial U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Southeast Region poll, posted 10 top-20 performances, including a 13th-place finish by Brandon Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 8.77 seconds. Bradley King (Hildebran, N.C.) and Richard Lane (Concord, N.C.) also finished in the top 20 of the 60-meter hurdles, placing 16th and 19th, respectively.
King also posted a 20th-place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 53.12 seconds, while Craig Simpkins (Boiling Springs, S.C.) and Austin High (Chesnee, S.C.) placed 13th and 18th, respectively in the 3000-meter run.
Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) and Kevin Dever (Leesburg, N.J.) finished 10th and 15th, respectively, in the pole vault, while Eric Cloy (Ball Ground, Ga.) recorded a personal-best of 6.25 meters in the long jump, which was good for 19th place. Corey Alexander (Atlanta, Ga.) also placed 16th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.32 meters.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Feb. 18 when the Bobcats travel to Boone, N.C. to participate in the ASU Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State University.
