BOONE, N.C. --- Brandon Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) set a school record in the 55-meter dash, and Bradley King (Hildebran, N.C.) posted a pair of personal bests to lead the Lees-McRae College men's track and field team at the ASU Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State University, on Friday.
The Bobcats posted one school record and 10 personal bests on the day. Williams posted a program-best time of 6.65 seconds in the 55-meter dash to finish fourth, while also tallying two other personal-bests in the 55-meter hurdles (4th/7.96 seconds) and 200-meter dash (2nd/23.12 seconds). King tallied three top-five finishes on the day, posting personal-bests in the 400-meter run (3rd/51.29 seconds) and 200-meter dash (5th/23.57 seconds) to go along with a fifth-place time of 8.10 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles.
Randal Wright (Westminster, S.C.) also turned in a pair of personal bests in the 55-meter dash (6th/6.67 seconds) and 200-meter dash (3rd/23.30 seconds). Sophomore Kevin Dever (Leesburg, N.J.) posted a personal best with a time of 53.70 seconds to finish fifth in the 400-meter run.
Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) recorded a personal best in the pole vault, finishing fourth with a mark of 4.46 meters, as Dever placed seventh with a vault of 4.16 meters. King and Richard Lane (Concord, N.C.) finished fifth and seventh, respectively in the 55-meter hurdles, while Stephen Mostella (Winter Haven, Fla.) turned in a personal-best of 6.86 seconds en route to a seventh-place showing in the 55-meter dash. Jared Lupton (Nampa, Idaho) finished seventh in the one mile run with a time of 4:46.89 as Mostella placed sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 53.91 seconds.
Lees-McRae opens the outdoor season on Mar. 5 when the Bobcats travel to Hickory, N.C. to participate in the Power Sox Invitational, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University.
