Bobcats top podium at Terrier Relays
SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The Lees-McRae College men's track and field team posted 10 top-five performances to capture the team championship at the Terrier Relays, hosted by Wofford College, on Saturday.
The Bobcats won the meet with a total of 83 points, beating out Limestone College (78) and Benedict College (76). Bradley King (Hildebran, N.C.) posted a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.71 seconds, while also finishing sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a mark of 16.40 seconds. Brandon Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16 seconds flat, while Richard Lane (Concord, N.C.) placed seventh with a mark of 16.58 seconds.
The quartet of Williams, Randall Wright (Westminster, S.C.), Marc Lamonthe (McDonough, Ga.), and Sam Youse (Winston-Salem, N.C.) placed second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 42.81 seconds, while the team of Austin High (Chesnee, S.C.), Jared Lupton (Nampa, Idaho), Craig Simpkins (Boiling Springs, S.C.), and Luke Anton (Hendersonville, N.C.) finished fifth in the 4x800-meter relay with a mark of 8:19.00. High, Lupton, Simpkins, and Anton also placed seventh in the 4x1600-meter relay with a time of 18:38.79.
Lamonthe, Wright, Anton and Stephen Mostella (Winter Haven, Fla.) finished eighth in the sprint medley with a time of 3:51.22, while Williams, Lamonthe, Wright, and Mostella also placed third in the 4x200-meter relay with a mark of 1:32.35. Connor Grey finished fifth in the 3000-meter steeple chase, while also teaming with Lupton, High, and Will McCoy (Southern Pines, N.C.) to place seventh in the 4x400-meter relay.
Devan Mackey (Hickory, N.C.) finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11.75 meters, while Lane and Youse placed third and fifth, respectively, in the high jump with marks of 1.85 and 1.80 meters. Freshman Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.35 meters, while Kevin Dever (Leesburg, N.J.) finished fifth with a vault of 3.95 meters. Corey Alexander (Atlanta, Ga.) and Eric Cloy (Ball Ground, Ga.) also finished in sixth and seventh place in the triple jump with marks of 12.53 and 12.30 meters, respectively.
Lees-McRae returns to action on April 15 and 16 when the Bobcats host the Conference Carolinas Championship meet at the Arthur, Laurentsen and Sanders Track and Field Complex.
