HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Nazaire Saintine (Douglassville, Ga.) finished third in the high jump with a provisionally national qualifying mark to lead the Lees-McRae College men's track and field team to a strong performance at High Point University's Vertklasse Meeting Track and Field Invitational on Saturday.
Saintine posted a mark of 2.05 meters in the high jump, surpassing his own school record while tying for seventh in the nation en route to a third-place finish. Assistant coach Mike Wilson placed second in the pole vault with a jump of 4.72 meters, while Kevin Dever (Leesburg, N.J.) finished eighth with a mark of 4.27 meters.
Jordan Wilbur (Chesterfield, S.C.) and Devan Mackey (Hickory, N.C.) placed seventh and ninth in the hammer throw with marks of 35.18 and 33.64, respectively, as Wilbur finished eighth in the shot put with a toss of 11.00 meters.
Bradley King (Hildebran, N.C.) finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.62 seconds, while teaming with Dever, Christopher Dye (Gastonia, N.C.), and Travis Burton (Newberry, S.C.) to place 10th in the 4x400-meter relay with a mark of 3:28.05. Saintine, Dye, Burton and Josh Oliver (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) then combined to place fifth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 43.53 seconds.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Friday, March 30 when the Bobcats travel to Johnson City, Tenn. to take part in the first day of the Johnson City Invitational.
