LMC Track & Field Enjoys Solid Day at UCS Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- Seven Lees-McRae track & field athletes earned top-20 finishes at the UCS Invitational Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Sophomore Tyree Reed (Phenix City, Ala.) grabbed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.55 seconds while teammate Matthew Darden (Columbus, N.C.) finished 12th, using a time of 23.19.

Reed set a school record in the 60-meter dash with a sparkling time of seven seconds flat.

Sophomore Joshua Cady (Aiken, S.C.) earned 10th in pole vault with a height of 3.95 meters. Fellow Bobcat Christopher Lloyd (Irmo, S.C.) finished 11th.

Junior Kayla Powell swiped a pair of top-20 finishes while placing 12th in the shot put with a distance of 10.54 meters. She claimed 16th in the weight throw with a heave of 12.47 meters.

LMC’s Erin Bingham (West Jefferson, N.C.) turned in a time of 9.73 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.

Junior Joshua Godwin (Pleasant Grove, N.C.) chucked the shot put 12.26 meters for an 18th-place finish.

Coach Ley Fletcher’s squad returns to action Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C.
