Bobcats close out the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships with six podium finishes Saturday

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College track and field programs notched six podium finishes on the final day of the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships on Saturday. The men's team finished sixth among the nine teams with 50 points, while the women's team was tied for fifth with 51 points out of 10 teams.

Seniors Cody McNeely and Erin Bingham captured conference championships in the 800m Run and the 100m Hurdles. Bingham, who ran a time of 14.42 in the finals, finishes her Bobcat career with three conference championships in the 100m hurdles during her four outdoor seasons competing in the Green and Gold.

McNeely, meanwhile, captured his second straight title in the 800m after winning the same event during the indoor season. With his performance Saturday, McNeely qualified for the NCAT Last Chance Meet for an opportunity to qualify for NCAA National Outdoor Championships in Bradenton, Florida May 25-27. The Last Chance Meet will be held May 14 in Greensboro.

The other four podium finishes Saturday for LMC were all in the field events. Christian Lloyd and Joshua Hall finished second and third in the pole vault, while Kendall Isler finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.09m. The fourth and final podium finish for Lees-McRae was from Kayla Powell who came in second in the shot put with a throw of 11.68m.

Despite not finishing in the top three of her event, freshman Jennifer Johnson did break the outdoor school record in the triple jump with a mark of 11.20m. Johnson also broke the program record in the 100m dash in the prelims of the event this weekend. In her first season as a Bobcat, Johnson notched nine top 10 finishes in a variety of events including the triple jump, long jump and 100m dash.

Joshua Goodwin – Discus – 11th – 35.77m
