Track & Field turns in strong showing in Winston-Salem on Sunday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College track & field programs turned in a strong showing at Sunday's JDL College Dual Meet Madness in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Bobcats had nine top 10 finishes and three top five nods.

Seven of the top 10 finishes Sunday came courtesy of the men's team. Luke Rochester tallied the top finish of any Bobcat on the day with a second place nod in the pole vault. Jalen Martin had three top 10 finishes in the long jump, 60m dash and 200m dash. Austin Thompson also finished third in the 3000m run and freshman Cooper Abernathy rounded out the top 10 finishes for LMC finishing seventh in the shot put.

Senior Kaitlyn Gearing paced the women's team in Winston-Salem notching both of the top 10 finishes for the squad. First, Gearing was seventh in the 400m run. Gearing also finished ninth in the high jump to round out her weekend.

Kaitlyn Gearing – Women's 60m Hurdles – 21st – 10.29

Mya Roberts – Women's Weight Throw – 21st – 10.56m

Kaitlyn Gearing – Women's 200m Dash – 21st – 27.80

The Bobcats will be back in action next Friday when they compete at the Buccaneer Classic in Johnson City, Tenn.
