NEW ORLEANS – Lees-McRae College track and field student-athletes Luke Rochester and Jason Saintizaire were named to the All-Southeast Region team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday afternoon.
Rochester repeats as an All-Region nominee in the pole vault as he received the same honor during the indoor season. The Seneca, S.C. native finished second in the pole vault at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championships last month with a mark of 4.20m.
Saintizaire, meanwhile, joined the track and field program after playing for LMC's men's basketball team during the indoor portion of the season. The transfer from Western Oklahoma State instantly became one of the best leapers in the conference when he joined the team finishing third at the league meet last month in the high jump with a leap of 1.89m.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the indoor track & field season.
