BANNER ELK, N.C. - Ryan Black, the lone senior on the Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's volleyball team, paced the team with 11 kills, a .714 hitting percentage and three and a half total blocks in the Bobcats 3-1 (30-25, 23-30, 30-24, 30-21) win over the Mount Olive College Trojans in Williams Gymnasium on Senior Day.
Black is currently ranked 38th in the nation in blocks per game and
ranked 21st in hitting percentage at .364.
The Bobcats jumped on the Trojans with a 30-25 set one win, but the
Trojans tied the match with 30-23 set two win. Lees-McRae took
control of the match with a 30-24 set three win and followed with a
30-21 set four win to earn the match win.
Colin Kelly led the Bobcats with 17 kills on 35 attempts for a .314
hitting percentage. Jeff Black added 13 kills on 23 attempts for a
.478 hitting percentage. Juan Ramirez had 52 assists, and Jeff
Black tied his older brother with three and a half blocks in the
match. Raphael Vieira led the team with nine digs and three
service aces.
The Bobcats end the season 19-5, which is their best record in the
past three years.
