Goodridge Takes Reigns of Men’s Volleyball Program

BANNER ELK, N.C. -- James Goodridge has been handed the reigns of the Lees-McRae College men's volleyball program effectively immediately, Athletic Director Craig McPhail announced Friday.

Goodridge comes to Lees-McRae via Conference Carolinas opponent, Mount Olive College, where he took the Trojans women's team, as the interim head coach, to 2008 Conference Carolinas Tournament Finals as the fifth seed. Goodridge's Trojans upset the Lady Bobcats, who were the fourth seed, in the second round of the tournament. Prior to that season, the Bobcats had won ten of the last ten conference tournaments. During the following men's season, Goodridge was named Associate Head of the Trojans.

Before joining Mount Olive's staff, Goodridge spent time at Springfield College as the assistant men's and women's coach and as the head coach of Florida State Univeristy's men's club team.

Goodridge graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Florida State in 2006 and received his Master of Arts in Sport and Fitness from University of Central Florida.

"James brings an understanding of men's volleyball within our conference and has the abilities to help us work on the vision of being one of the preeminent men's volleyball programs in the country," McPhail said. "With what Coach Petrik and Coach Schneider have started, I am confident in James' abilities to help get Lees-McRae College recognized amongst the best. His experience in the US Armed Forces, the master's degree in sports leadership and his discipline in being a team player were key traits I felt made him someone we needed on our staff."
