HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College junior Matt Harpenau (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Player of the Week for the first time this season, joining Joshua Jones (Christmas, Fla.) as the Bobcats' second honoree of the campaign.
Harpenau paced the Bobcats to a 3-0 record last week, averaging 2.33 kills per set while attacking at a .571 clip. The junior middle blocker hit at least .500 in each of his three matches, tallying 21 kills and just one error in nine sets. Harpenau also posted nearly one block per frame, recording a total of seven stuffs to go along with three service aces.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native opened the week with an eight-kill performance against Belmont Abbey, hitting an even .500 while recording two aces and three block assists. He followed with seven kills in a pivotal four-set win over Limestone, notching one ace and three block assists. Harpenau capped the week with six kills on eight swings in two sets against Coker, posting a .750 hitting performance in the Bobcats' sweep of the Cobras.
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Tuesday when the Bobcats travel to Misenheimer, N.C. to take on Pfeiffer University in conference play at 7 p.m.
