BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will have a pair of matches at Williams Gymnasium this week. The Bobcats will begin the week with a matchup against Limestone on Wednesday before closing out the week with a tilt against North Greenville Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. start times.
Last Time Out – Lees-McRae dropped a 3-0 decision to Mount Olive last Saturday. With the defeat, the Bobcats' record now stands at 4-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Keenan Keeps Digging – Senior libero Keenan Freitas currently ranks second nationally averaging 3.27 digs per set. The only player to average a better mark has been Sacred Heart's Joshua Ayzenberg who is averaging 3.72.
Among the National Leaders – The Bobcats rank in the top 10 nationally in digs per set and opponent's hitting percentage. As far as digs per set, LMC is sixth averaging 9.20 and ninth in the opponent's hitting percentage. Lees-McRae has held its opponents to a .202 hitting percentage so far in the 12 matches.
Freshman fitting in on the block – Freshman Karl Deichmann currently paces all Conference Carolinas freshmen averaging 0.93 blocks per set. Deichmann has posted six of the top 10 blocking performances by the Bobcats this season, including a six-block outing at Lincoln Memorial at Jan. 27.
Series Rewind – Lees-McRae will look to snap losing skids against both Limestone and North Greenville when they match up this week. The Saints have won six straight against LMC with the Bobcats' last win in the series coming in 2013. As for the NGU series, the Crusaders have won five of the six all-time meetings.
