BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will wrap up its home schedule with three matches this week against Belmont Abbey Tuesday, Erskine Friday and Emmanuel (GA) on Saturday. The first two matches are slated for 7 p.m. start times, while Saturday's tilt will begin at 2 p.m. All three matches will be played at Banner Elk Elementary School as the restoration of Williams Gymnasium continues.
Last Time Out – LMC picked up its sixth victory of the season Saturday when they swept Pfeiffer on the road. The six wins by the Bobcats in 2017 are more than the team has had in the past two seasons combined. Overall, LMC's record stands at 6-13 overall and 4-7 in league play.
Back-to-Back – When the Bobcats take the court Tuesday, they will try to win back-to-back matches for the first time since the 2014 season.
Creating a Home Court Advantage – LMC is currently 3-6 in home matches on the season. If LMC can win at least two of their last three matches, it will clinch the most wins for the program at home since the 2013 season. 2013 was also the last time the Bobcats posted a winning record.
Senior Standouts – Two of LMC's top players this season are seniors in John Sobel and Keenan Freitas. Sobel is one of five players in Conference Carolinas with 200 or more kills this season and currently is third in the league in that category. Freitas, meanwhile, leads the conference with 218 digs and is second in the nation averaging 3.16 digs per set.
Series Rewind – In the first two matches this week, the Bobcats hope to avenge losses from earlier this season. Belmont Abby and Erskine both knocked off Lees-McRae in four sets. On Saturday, Lees-McRae will look to complete the season sweep of the Lions after winning 3-2 in Franklin Springs in February.
