HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College men's volleyball player Reto Pfund was named the Conference Carolinas men's volleyball player of the week by the league office on Monday. Pfund is the first Bobcat to be named player of the week since the 2015 season when former Bobcat Brady Markle received the honor.
"Reto has been working hard to get to the level that he's at now," said LMC Head Coach Henry Chuang. "We've been working on his connection with the hitters and it was good to see the results this past week. He's come a long ways to lead this team to where we're at now and I'm happy to see him get recognized for his efforts.
Pfund, a freshman from Mohlin, Switzerland, registered 106 assists, 15 digs, 12 kills, seven blocks and five service aces to help lead the Bobcats to a perfect 3-0 record last week. Pfund's best performance of the week came Saturday as he dished out 46 assists to go with five digs, four blocks and three aces to propel the Bobcats to a 3-2 come-from-behind win.
On the season, Pfund has registered 22 service aces and 769 assists for a 9.49 assists per set average. His assist total ranks second in Conference Carolinas, while his assists per set is third and service aces total ranks eighth.
