BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will hit the road for matches at Barton and Mount Olive this weekend. LMC will take on the Bulldogs Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on the Trojans Saturday at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats picked up a thrilling comeback win over Emmanuel (GA) College last Saturday at Banner Elk Elementary School, 3-2. The victory improves LMC's record to 9-13 overall and 7-7 in Conference Carolinas play.
Going on a Streak – With the win Saturday, the Bobcats are currently on a four-match winning streak. The last time LMC had this long of a winning streak was in the 2014 season.
Player of the Week – Freshman Reto Pfund was named the Conference Carolinas men's volleyball player of the week on Monday. Pfund is the first Bobcat since the 2015 season to earn the honor. Pfund registered 106 assists, 15 digs, 12 kills, seven blocks and five service aces to help lead the Bobcats to a perfect 3-0 record last week. Pfund's best performance of the week came Saturday as he dished out 46 assists to go with five digs, four blocks and three aces to propel the Bobcats to a 3-2 come-from-behind win.
Playoff Positioning – With the surge by the Bobcats as of late, they have vaulted into the No. 5 position in the conference standings. LMC has four matches remaining in the regular season to further cement its position for the conference tournament.
Series Rewind - Barton and Mount Olive have held the edge in the series against the Bobcats over the past several years. The Bulldogs have won seven straight meetings against LMC with Lees-McRae's last win coming in 2013. UMO, meanwhile, has won 15 straight in the series. LMC's last victory in over the Trojans was in 2009.
