WILSON, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road to Barton Friday night (25-19, 25-21, 25-20). The loss moves LMC's record to 9-14 overall and 7-8 in conference play.
Set 1: The Bulldogs were rolling early on in the first set as they built their lead out to eight points at 23-15. Lees-McRae went on a run to get within five points at 24-19, but the Bulldogs finished off the frame with a service error by the Bobcats.
Set 2: LMC came out swinging in the second as it hit a match-high .375 on 16 attempts. Despite the improved offense by the Bobcats, the Bulldogs still came out on top thanks to hot-hitting offensively. Barton hit .529 on 17 attempts. Barton won the second frame 25-21 to pull ahead of the Bobcats, 2-0.
Set 3:Karl Deichmann picked up four of seven kills in the match in third on four attempts but it wasn't enough as Barton's Angelos Mandilaris totaled seven kills on 15 attempts to pace his team to a 25-20 set victory.
Next Up: The Bobcats will travel to Mount Olive Saturday in another Conference Carolinas road contest. LMC and UMO will get underway at 2 p.m.
