BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team released its 2018 schedule Wednesday afternoon. LMC is scheduled to play 27 regular season matches, including 14 tilts at Williams Gymnasium. The 2018 schedule is highlighted by trips to Hawaii in early February and to Division I institutions, Ball State and Fort Wayne, in early January.

"We have a really young team this year;" said LMC Head Coach Henry Chuang. "You might see four or five freshmen on the court at times. I also think we have a really good schedule this year.  We're starting our season at Ball State, who's consistently in the Top 15, and one month later we're playing Hawaii, who made it to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament last year. Besides learning how to handle longer travel, those two trips will be good benchmarks as to how much progress we're making as a team. The majority of our conference matches will be after those trips so I'm hoping we'll be battle tested and playing our best volleyball at that point."

The Bobcats will open their 2018 season with a trip to Indiana for a pair of matches at Ball State on Jan. 5 and Fort Wayne on Jan. 6. After its trip to the Midwest, Lees-McRae will return home for three straight home tilts at Williams Gymnasium against Bluefield College (Jan. 12), Coker (Jan. 13) and Alderson Broaddus (Jan. 20). LMC will then close out the season's first month with three straight Conference Carolinas matches on the road: at King (Jan. 24), North Greenville (Jan. 27) and at Belmont Abbey (Jan. 30).

Lees-McRae will begin the month of February with a trip to Hawaii for three matches. LMC will take on Hawaii and Thompson River University on Feb. 2 before closing out its trip to Honolulu with a contest against Sacred Heart a day later. After returning from Hawaii, the Bobcats will close out February playing three of the last five matches on their home court. LMC will host Queens (Feb. 8), Limestone (Feb. 17) and King (Feb. 28) with a road trip to Barton (Feb. 23) and Mount Olive (Feb. 24 in there as well.

March will be the busiest month of the season for the Bobcats in terms of matches scheduled. LMC will start the month playing four out of five in Banner Elk with contests against Emmanuel (GA) (March 2), Erskine (March 3), North Greenville (March 14) and Belmont Abbey (March 20). Mixed in with these home games, Lees-McRae will also make trips to Lincoln Memorial (March 16), Emmanuel (March 23), Erskine (March 24), Queens (March 28) and Limestone (March 29) in the month of March.

LMC will close out its regular season with a pair of conference matches at home against Mount Olive and Barton on April 6-7. The Conference Carolinas tournament will begin on April 14 with four quarterfinal matchups at the sites of the top four teams' home sites. The semifinals and finals of the event will be held at the top remaining seed's gym on April 20-21.
