BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will make its 2018 home debut this weekend when it hosts Coker College Saturday. First serve is set for noon.
Last Time Out: Lees-McRae dropped a pair of three set decisions on the road to open its season last weekend in Indiana. LMC first fell to No. 14 Ball State on Friday and then again to Fort Wayne on Saturday.
Freshmen make their debut: Five players made their collegiate debuts last weekend in those two matches: Spencer Graf, Ethan Gardner, Joseph Valadez, Robert Bowling and Michael Wahl. Only Limestone among Conference Carolinas teams has played more freshmen than the Bobcats with six.
Success in Home Debut: Lees-McRae will look to accomplish something it hasn't done since 2013 and 2014 and that is win their first home match of the season in back-to-back seasons. Last season, the Bobcats swept Lincoln Memorial in Banner Elk.
About the Opponents: Coker is coming off its best season to date as it finished with 14 victories. Additionally, most of the Cobras' top players return for this season, including Joao Victor Santos was named to 2018 Bryan Ivie Award Watch List by Off the Block. The Bryan Ivie Award goes to the top middle blocker in the country.
Series Histories vs. Opponents: Coker and Lees-McRae have a little more of a past with both teams having won three matches against the other. The Cobras have won the last two meetings against the Bobcats with the last coming 2016.
