BANNER ELK, N.C. – After playing back-to-back matches away from home, the Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will return to Williams Gymnasium for a pair of home matches this week. LMC will take on rival King University Wednesday before welcoming Emmanuel to Banner Elk on Friday. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m.
Last Time Out – Lees-McRae fell on the road to Mount Olive, 3-0, last Saturday afternoon. The loss moved LMC's record to 2-11 overall and 0-6 in league action.
Snapping the Skid – The Bobcats hope to snap their current four-match losing streak this week. LMC's last win came in Honolulu, Hawaii in four sets over Thompson Rivers University on February 2.
Comforts of Home Court – Like most teams, Lees-McRae has played much better at its home gym as opposed to playing on the road or at a neutral site. In matches played in Banner Elk, the Bobcats are hitting .197, averaging 11.24 kills per set, 8.47 digs per set and 2.09 blocks per frame. Comparatively, LMC holds marks of .141, 8.46, 7.81 and 1.12 in those same categories in road matches.
About the Opponents – King comes into this week's action sitting in second place in the conference with a 7-1 record and a 10-3 mark overall. Emmanuel, meanwhile, is 5-8 overall and boasts a 3-4 mark in league matches in 2018.
Series Rewind – The Bobcats and Tornado tangled earlier this season in Bristol with the latter coming out on top in three sets. Friday's match against Emmanuel will be LMC's first look at the Lions this spring. In 2017, Lees-McRae won both matches between the programs in five sets.
