HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team fell in three sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-15) on the road in non-conference action at Lincoln Memorial Friday night. The loss moves LMC's record to 2-14 on the 2018 season.
1st Set – The Bobcats came out and hit the ball well in the opening stanza of Friday's contest. Hitting .286 as a team, LMC looked poised to pick up a set victory over the Railsplitters. Unfortunately, Lees-McRae could not slow down Lincoln Memorial's attack as it hit .400 with 15 kills in the frame on its way to a 25-17 victory.
2nd Set – Unlike the first set of the match, defense ruled in the second stanza. Lincoln Memorial blocked seven Bobcat attacks in the second alone, and Lees-McRae hurt itself with five service errors. With those two factors working in unison, the Bobcats fell in set number two, 25-17.
3rd Set – In what proved to be the final set of Friday's match, the Railsplitters scored five of the first six points of the stanza on their way to a 25-15 win over LMC to complete the three-set victory. Much like it did in the first set, Lincoln Memorial's offense clicked very well hitting .467 on 15 attacks with 10 kills. LMU was also aided in the final frame with a match-high four aces in the third.
Next Up – Lees-McRae will return to action Tuesday night when it welcomes league rival Belmont Abbey to Williams Gymnasium. First serve between the Bobcats and Crusaders is set for 7 p.m.
