CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte picked up a 3-0 sweep (25-13, 25-17, 25-22) of the Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team Wednesday night in a non-conference contest. The Bobcats move to 2-18 on the season with the Wednesday's defeat.
Set 1 – Queens used a pair of lengthy runs to upend the Bobcats in the opening set, 25-13. First, the Royals used a 4-0 run to change a 6-5 advantage to 10-5 lead. Queens did not stop there as it went on a 5-0 run to put the first set out of reach for the Bobcats. Junior Hector Serviat did have three kills in the first to pace the Bobcat attack.
Set 2 – Efficiency led the Royals to back up their first set win with another in the second, 25-17. Queens hit .348 with just one attack error during the stanza. On the flip side, Lees-McRae did notch a match-high 12 kills in the second, but it committed eight attack errors.
Set 3 – Lees-McRae put together its most competitive effort of Wednesday's match in what proved to be the final set of the night. After a kill by Serviat, the Bobcats trailed Queens by just two points, 22-20, late in the frame. Unfortunately, a pair of key service errors returned serve to the Royals, and they finished off the match with a 25-22 set win.
Next Up – The Bobcats will be back in action Thursday night when they travel to conference rival Limestone. The Saints upended the Bobcats in four sets earlier this season when the two teams matched up in Banner Elk. First serve for Thursday's game is set for 7 p.m.
