BANNER ELK, N.C. – For the second straight season, the Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will compete in the Conference Carolinas men's volleyball tournament. The tournament will begin Tuesday, and LMC's first round opponent is co-conference champion in the regular season, King. The first serve for Tuesday's match is set for 6:30 p.m. from Bristol, Tennessee.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats closed out their regular season with a 3-0 sweep of Erskine last Friday at Williams Gymnasium. With the win, LMC improved to 4-21 overall and 2-14 within conference action.
Peaking at the Right Time – Lees-McRae seems like it is definitely peaking at the right time. After posting two wins in the first three months of the season, LMC has won two of its four matches in the month of April, while pushing another to five sets.
About the conference tournament field – In addition to the matchup that pits the eighth-seeded Bobcats against the top seed King, there will be three other quarterfinal matchups that will take place Thursday night. The other three first round matches include: No. 7 Erskine at No. 2 Barton, No. 6 Limestone at No. 3 Mount Olive and No. 5 North Greenville at No. 4 Belmont Abbey.
About the Opponent – The Tornado enter postseason play with a record of 20-8 overall and 15-1 in conference play. King, which is riding a nine-match winning streak into Tuesday's tilt against the Bobcats, have posted a perfect 11-0 record in matches played in Bristol.
Series Rewind vs. King – King swept the Bobcats twice this season. Since 2014, the Tornado have won nine straight matches against Lees-McRae. Tuesday's contest, however, will be the first-ever postseason meeting between the two teams.
