BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will return to action on Saturday to host Limestone College at Williams Gymnasium. First serve between the Bobcats and Saints is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Last time out – Lees-McRae dropped a four-set decision on the road at Erskine last Saturday (16-25, 23-25, 25-15, 16-25). The loss pushed Lees-McRae's record on the season to 1-7 overall and 0-5 within Conference Carolinas.
Blocking Bobcats – Despite the loss on Saturday, the Bobcats held the edge on the block against the Flying Fleet out-blocking them nine-and-a-half to four. It marks the third straight match that Lees-McRae has led its opponent in that category. Individually, Drew Sims leads the team in blocking averaging 1.17 denials per set, which ranks third in the conference.
Defense on a national scale – Sparked by their work on the block, the Bobcats have been one of the top teams in the nation this season in regards to opponent hitting percentage. Lees-McRae has held its foes to a hitting percentage of .207, which ranks eighth nationally. Only Belmont Abbey within Conference Carolinas has been better in that category than the Bobcats.
About Limestone – The Saints will come into Saturday's match against Lees-McRae with a record of 2-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Limestone will look to snap its current three-match losing skid when it takes on the Bobcats. Limestone's two victories in 2019 came at Emmanuel and against Queens (N.C.) at home.
Series history vs. Limestone – The series history between Lees-McRae and Limestone has been a fairly even one over the years. The Saints currently hold the edge in the matchups, 11-7. The Bobcats will look to snap a 10-match losing streak against Limestone dating back to the 2014 season.
