NEWTON, N.C. --- Jared Lupton (Nampa, Idaho) finished 22nd overall to lead the Lees-McRae College men's cross country team to a seventh-place performance at the Lenoir-Rhyne University Invitational on Saturday morning.
Lupton turned in the top finish of the day for Lees-McRae, finishing 22nd with a time of 28:32 as Gabriel Tobias (Caldwell, N.C.) placed 44th with a mark of 31:08. Dustin Rudisill (Dallas, N.C.) finished 51st with a time of 31:50, while Zach Cummings (Duncan, S.C.) and Jordan Meyers (Inman, S.C.) placed 63rd and 65th, respectively, with marks of 35:23 and 36:49.
Radford University captured the team title with 26 points, placing four runners in the top six and five in the top 10. Mars Hill College finished second with a mark of 39 points, followed by host Lenoir-Rhyne (91), Brevard College (92) and Tusculum College (128). Carson-Newman was sixth with 171 markers, followed by Lees-McRae (214), University of Virginia at Wise (216), and Emory & Henry College (216).
Lees-McRae returns to the trails on Friday, September 28 when the Bobcats travel to Charlotte, N.C. to participate in the UNC Charlotte Invitational.
