Cummings, Lupton earn academic all-conference honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Two members of the Lees-McRae College men's cross country team were named to the all-Conference Carolinas Academic team on Thursday, as Zach Cummings (Duncan, S.C.) and Jared Lupton (Nampa, Idaho) were recognized for their work in the classroom.

Cummings has performed well in his first season with the Bobcats, improving each race and filing a crucial scoring role for the Green and Gold. A native of Duncan, S.C., Cummings posted perhaps his best performance thus far at the Conference Preview Meet with a 20th-place showing earlier this month.

Lupton has put together a strong senior campaign with the Green and Gold, posting the Bobcats' top individual finish in almost every race. The Nampa, Idaho native turned in perhaps his best performance of the season at the Conference Preview Meet, finishing 13th with a time of 17:32.59.

Lees-McRae returns to the trails on Friday when the Bobcats travel to Concord, N.C. to participate in the 2012 Conference Carolinas Championships.
