Bobcats open season strong at Buffalo Valley Stampede

UNICOI, Tenn. --- Senior Tyler Dunn (Jasper, Ga.) finished 11th overall to pace the Lees-McRae College men's cross country team to a fourth-place performance at the Buffalo Valley Stampede on Friday evening.

Tennessee Wesleyan claimed the top spot in the team standings with 29 points, followed by host Milligan College (58), North Greenville University (76), Lees-McRae (100), Montreat College (135) and Emory & Henry College (143).

Dunn led the way for Lees-McRae in 11th with a time of 20:16.19, followed closely by freshman Anthony Carroll (Stevensville, Md.) in 14th with a mark of 20:27.09. Senior Michael Davis (Independence, Va.) and Colby Shell (Wilkesboro, N.C.) finished 24th and 25th, respectively, as Cody McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) placed 31st to round out the scorers for the Bobcats.

Freshmen Sean Condon (Walnut Cove, N.C.), Brandon Sherrill (Sherills Ford, N.C.) and Pablo Gavillan (Orlando, Fla.) each made strong collegiate debuts with a trio of top-50 finishes.

Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday, September 14 when the Bobcats travel to Asheville, N.C. to take part in the UNC Asheville Invitational.
