BOONE, N.C. --- Senior Tyler Dunn (Jasper, Ga.) put on a late burst of speed to close the gap and beat out a pair of NCAA Division I runners to lead the Lees-McRae College men's cross country team to a strong performance at Appalachian State University's Blue Ridge Open on Friday afternoon.
Dunn paced the Bobcats with a time of 27:15.65, finishing ahead of more than 80 runners in a field of 31 teams, including 20 NCAA I programs. The Bobcats finished sixth out of eight non-NCAA Division I teams, beating out Montreat College and Columbia International University.
Michael Davis (Independence, Va.) crossed the line in second for Lees-McRae, posting a time of 28:34.13, as Anthony Carroll (Stevensville, Md.) and Sean Condon (Walnut Cove, N.C.) finished seconds apart with marks of 29:21.60 and 29:39.80, respectively.
Cody McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) and Brenden Sherrill (Sherrills Ford, N.C.) turned in times of 29:58.25 and 30:34.53 to round out the top six for the Bobcats, as Jordan Meyer (Boiling Springs, S.C.) posted a season-best mark of 33:08.07.
Lees-McRae returns to the trials on Friday, October 25 when the Bobcats travel to Concord, N.C. for the Conference Carolinas Championships.
