HICKORY, N.C. --- Sophomore Tyler Pauley and freshman Alexandria Flint earned top-20 finishes while the Lees-McRae cross country teams participated in the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational Saturday morning at Southside Park in Hickory, N.C.
Flint (Blue Bell, Pa.) claimed 18th when she turned in a time of 20:35.93 while freshman counterpart Jamie Colon (Acworth, Ga.) was close behind in 24th and needed 21:08.61 to complete the 5K course.
Freshman Makayla Estep (Moravian Falls, N.C.) impressed by shaving nearly two minutes of her personal best with a time of 21:59.72. Freshman Chloe Maddox (Helen, Ga.) finished the course in 22:09.74.
Appalachian State won the team title while coach Ley Fletcher's squad finished fourth. The Mountaineers' Maria Stickley won the individual title with a time of 19:03.26.
On the men's side, Pauley (Independence, Va.) continued his solid sophomore campaign with a time of 28:38.85 in the 8K while finishing 19th.
Sophomore Anthony Carroll (Stevensville, Md.) earned a top-30 finish with a mark of 29:14.09 to claim 29th.
Sophomore Cody McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) completed the course in 29:34.98 to grab 32nd.
Unattached Justin Gragg won the individual title while Lenior-Rhyne claimed the team crown.
Both squads will enjoy an off week before heading to the Conference Carolinas Conference Championships in Concord, N.C. Friday, Nov. 7. The men claimed seventh last year while the women finished 10th.
