Freshmen Pave Way for Men's Cross Country at SE Regional

WINGATE, N.C. --- Freshmen Lane Graves and Austin Thompson paced the Lees-McRae men's cross country team at the Southeast Region Championship Saturday morning in Wingate, N.C.

Coach Ley Fletcher's squad was one of three Conference Carolinas squads to participate in the run and bested Limestone by 113 points.

Graves (Goshen, Ind.) led the team in the 10K with a time of 36:24.0 while freshman teammate Thompson (Cleveland, Ga.) capped off an impressive first-year campaign with a mark of 36:27.8

McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) wasn't far behind when he turned in a time of 36:36.7.

Freshman Shawn Graves (Goshen, Ind.) was good for a time of 37:30.1

The Bobcats finished 16th as a team.

Mount Olive won the team title with 52 points while three of its runners finished in the top 10.

Mars Hill's Alex Griggs won the individual title with a time of 32:33.4.
