OAKWOOD, Ga. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs closed out their 2018 seasons Saturday morning at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. LMC put on a strong showing with each of its nine runners finishing in the upper two-thirds of times in their respective races.
The men's team placed 12th among 22 schools on the day. Lees-McRae placed second among Conference Carolinas schools just like it did two weeks ago at the league's conference championship contest. Senior Austin Thompson posted the top time for the Bobcats (34:06.07) on his way to a 49th place finish out of a 150 runner field.
The entire women's team did not make the trip to Georgia but the ones who did fared well in the 6k race. After being named All-Conference by finishing in the top 15 at the league championship race two weeks ago, freshman Brianne Heard finished 90th among the 154 runners. Joining Heard from Lees-McRae was senior Jordyn Halvorsen. In her final race as a Bobcat, Halvorsen finished 92nd with a time of 25:52.65.
