Bobcat Softball to Open Season Saturday

Banner Elk, NC--Bobcat Softball opens up its season Saturday, February 3rd at the Claflin University Tournament. The first game is at 9am vs. Claflin in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The first game will be played past the Claflin University Gym (turn right on Peasley Rd). Two more games and venues for these games will be announced at a later time.

Despite finishing 6th in regular season and 5th in the Conference
Tournament last year, the Bobcats were picked 10th in the CVAC Coaches
Poll earlier this week. Picked also by the CVAC Coaches as players to
watch are returning middle infield; Dakota Beck and Salle' Horner.
Short stop Dakota Beck led the conference with a .395 batting average as
a freshman last year and fellow freshman, second baseman Salle' Horner,
solidified her freshman experience by being selected Team Captain for
the upcoming year. The ladies return a near complete infield and
outfield, yet graduated their Captain; Greta Turner, and Outfield Leader; Talia Freeman and All-Conference Hurler, Hannah Morgan.
They will be looking to the abilities of their recruiting class, 4
pitchers, 2 catchers and a JUCO transfer first baseman to balance out
their attack.

year's worth of chemotherapy and radiation earlier this month. Ashlyn
led the team in batting average her freshman and sophomore years and was
granted a medical red-shirt last year. The Bobcats are forever changed
by her resilience and determination to win too the battles of life.
