HIGH POINT, N.C.-- Lees-McRae College's Amanda Dodson (2-2 overall) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas softball Pitcher of the Week for week one in the 2009 season.
Dodson, a junior from Walnut Cove, N.C. had three solid
performances in the circle to lead the Lees-McRae College Lady
Bobcats to a 2-2 week.
During the team's season opener against Meredith College, Dodson earned the save in one and two thirds innings of work yielding only two hits and recording three strikeouts.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Dodson recorded the win when she entered the game in the second inning with the game tied at four. Her solid outing held Meredith to only two hits while recording two strikeouts in three and a third innings.
In the final game of the week Dodson took the circle against Chowan giving up three hits and one earned run in six innings of work in a losing effort.
In 11 innings of work Dodson has recorded nine strikeouts and only two walks. She leads the team with a 0.82 ERA and opposing hitters are only hitting .179.
