HIGH POINT, N.C. - Lees-McRae College's Amanda Dodson (14-6 overall, 3-1 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas softball Player of the Week during week five in the 2009 season.
Junior pitcher and outfielder Amanda Dodson led the Lees-McRae
College Lady Bobcats women's softball team to a 6-0 week while
winning 12 of their last 14 games.
Dodson sported a .556 batting average over the six games recording a hit in five of the six games. She accumulated 10 hits in 18 at bats, two doubles, two triples and two homeruns for 22 total bases. She drove in nine RBI and scored five runs. She compiled a .638 on base percentage, a 1.222 slugging percentage and was successful in all three of her stolen base attempts during the week.
In game two against conference opponent Anderson, Dodson's two-run homerun set the tone of the game in the first inning.
At the Cocoa Expo Tournament in Titusville, Florida, Dodson was 6-for-6 in a two game doubleheader with two triples in the first game against Cedarville and a double and a homerun in the second game against Ursline.
On day two of the tournament, her hot hitting continued as she went 3-for-6.
On the season, she has a team high .410 batting average and a .738 slugging percentage. She has a team high 15 RBI, four homeruns and 45 total bases.
