• Kara Cunningham named Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week

    HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College softball player Kara Cunningham was named the Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week this afternoon by the league office. It is the second time that Cunningham has won the league’s pitcher of the week honors in her career, and it marks the first weekly honor for the Bobcats this spring.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team will be back in action this week with six games on tap. LMC will start off the week with a twin bill at Tusculum on Tuesday before competing at the Coker College Spring Tournament with two games on Saturday and two more on Sunday. Tuesday’s contests will begin at 2 p.m., while Saturday’s and Sunday’s will start at 10 a.m. and 9 a.m., respectively.

    ANDERSON, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team split a pair of games in Anderson, S.C. Tuesday afternoon. LMC picked up its first win of 2018 in game one defeating Anderson (S.C.) University by a score of 1-0. Anderson, however, knocked off the Bobcats, 5-4, in game two. With the results Tuesday, Lees-McRae’s record moves to 1-5 on the season.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – After battling wet weather over the past two weeks, the Lees-McRae College softball team hopes to get all three of its scheduled doubleheaders in this week. The Bobcats will travel to Anderson Tuesday before heading to Lander Saturday and USC Aiken Sunday. Tuesday’s twin bill is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m., while Saturday’s and Sunday’s contests are slated for 2 and 1 p.m. first pitches, respectively.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – With inclement weather and poor field conditions expected over the next few days, the Lees-McRae College softball team announced some changes to its schedule for the upcoming week. First, the doubleheader that was originally supposed to be played at Tusculum today will instead be played at 2 p.m. Thursday in Greeneville, Tennessee. Additionally, this weekend’s Lenoir-Rhyne Bear Bash has been cancelled. Instead the Bobcats and Bears will matchup in a twin bill Friday afternoon in Hickory, North Carolina. The start time for that doubleheader is set for 2 p.m.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – After opening its 2018 season last weekend, the Lees-McRae College softball team will be back in action with six games this week. First, Lees-McRae will travel to Tennessee on Tuesday to take on Tusculum in a twin bill beginning at 2 p.m. Following the matchups with the Pioneers, LMC will compete in the Lenoir-Rhyne Bear Bash on Saturday and Sunday. The Bobcats will take on both Lenoir-Rhyne and UVa-Wise once on each day of the event.

The 2018 Bobcats start their new campaign with a pair of non-conference doubleheaders this weekend. First, LMC will travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. to face Carson-Newman on Saturday before traveling to South Carolina on Sunday to take on Anderson. Saturday’s games are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., and Sunday’s are scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start time.

However, the sixth-ranked Falcons edged the Bobcats in 10 innings, 2-1. The loss ends the 2017 season for Lees-McRae, and it finishes it with a record of 15-34.
