The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats basketball team hosted Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference opponent Mount Olive Lady Trojans Saturday afternoon but were unable to pull out a victory, losing 66-60.
The Lady Bobcats went into half time leading 32-26 but would come out slow in the second half shooting 20 percent from the field. Mount Olive came out hot, out scoring the Lady Bobcats 40-28 in the second half. Mount Olive's bench would prove to be the difference as they outscored Lees-McRae's 24-1.
The Lady Bobcats were lead by sophomore Stephanie Mullinax (Etowah, TN) with a game high 22 points and 7 rebounds. Mullinax would hit two free throws to bring the Lady Bobcats within two with a minute remaining, but the Mount Olive would finish the game making all of their free throws as LMC fouled the Lady Trojans on their next pair of possessions.
The Lady Bobcats finish the regular season 1-18 in conference
and 12-14 overall. The Lady Bobcats will turn their attention to
the CVAC Tournament this week. A rematch of this afternoon's game
highlights the first round as the Lady Bobcats will travel to Mount
Olive to play the Lady Trojans Monday February 27 at 7:00pm.
